How to Properly Change your Kia's Tires

    Last updated 5 years ago

Many Kia owners rely on roadside assistance services to take care of a flat tire. In the rare event that roadside assistance is not available, knowing how to change a tire on your own can come in handy. Watch this video clip to find out how to change your Kia’s tires.

First, remove the jack and lug wrench from trunk of your car. Then, apply the emergency brake inside your car and chock your tires so that your Kia won’t roll back on you when you’re jacking it up. After loosening the lug nuts, put the jack under the car under the jack point and begin cranking it. As soon as the flat wheel is off of the ground, you can loosen the lug nuts completely, remove the old wheel, and install the spare tire.

At Brown’s Manassas Kia, we are happy to help you if you have a flat tire. We will recommend a tire from our inventory of manufacturer-approved tires. Call us at (571) 383-2039 or visit our website to learn more about our Kia maintenance and repair services.

Getting Comfortable on a Bigger Stage

    Last updated 5 years ago

Automakers are sometimes pilloried, even in this space, for being too cautious with their designs.

But a conservative design can suggest confidence. Perennial favorites from the Honda Accord to the Chevrolet Silverado are evidence that long-term value isn’t about the flashiest body or the latest trend.

The Kia Cadenza demonstrates the point. Driving this full-size sedan conjures words like “low key” and “straightforward.” A decade ago, those would have been damning words in a Kia review, because Kia hadn’t earned the right or respect to do straightforward. The quality wasn’t there. Nor were the features, the performance or the consumer trust. These were Kias, darn it, the low-budget Korean alternative; the brand needed oddball gimmicks and pricing sleight-of-hand to make any kind of case with American buyers.

In contrast, the Korean-built Cadenza, new for 2014, comes across as the conservative offspring of a Toyota and a 5 Series, minus the athleticism of the BMW. Yet in this context, the Kia’s mature, mildly soporific quality seems comforting.

Go to The New York Times' website to read the full article about the Kia Cadenza.  If you would like to test drive a new 2014 Kia Cadenza, stop by Brown's Manassas Kia or call us at (571) 383-2039 to schedule an appointment.

Understanding How the Summer Heat Can Impact your Kia

    Last updated 5 years ago

Summer in Manassas has arrived, and many drivers are gearing up to hit the road for family vacations and holidays. To stay safe during your summer travel adventures in Virginia, it is important to be aware of how warm weather can impact your vehicle’s performance and drivability. Here are some of the main ways that the summer heat can affect your new vehicle:

    Cooling System

On a hot day, your vehicle’s cooling system has to work harder to prevent your engine from overheating. To prevent your vehicle from overheating in hot summer weather, you should maintain your cooling system and make sure that your coolant fluid is always at the proper level. If your coolant needs to be refilled, a 50:50 mixture of water and coolant will ensure that your system is operating effectively.

    Battery Charge

In hot weather, your battery can begin to lose its charge. The summer heat can cause your battery fluid to evaporate, which will cause damage and corrosion to the internal parts of your battery. To make sure that your battery is ready for all of your summer travels, you should make sure that its fluids are at the proper level. You should also clean the exterior of the battery and make sure that the battery terminals are free of corrosion or debris.

    Tire Pressure

Your vehicle’s tires require extra maintenance during the heat of summer. When the air temperature heats up, the internal pressure of your tires will go up. This extra tire pressure can make you more susceptible to a blowout. Before you head out on a long drive, make sure that your tires are properly rotated and inflated to the factory recommended pressure.
