Kia is investing in extensive research and development to stay at the forefront of automotive innovation and to continue providing consumers with an outstanding line of durable and fuel-efficient vehicles. Take a look at some of these concept models for glimpse at what’s in store for the future Kia lineup:
The K9: World-Class Luxury
Much like the Genesis from its sister company, Hyundai, Kia has been working hard on its first foray into the premium luxury segment. The K9 won’t be your typical nouveau riche sedan, but a fully loaded rear-wheel drive flagship boasting the best performance, entertainment, and safety technology that Kia has to offer. Already available in South Korea since 2012, Kia is currently making plans to release the K9 in the United States under a different moniker in the coming months.
The Cross GT Concept: Elegant Versatility
The Cross GT Concept immediately stole the spotlight when it was unveiled at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Beautifully sculpted with sleek lines and more than hint of Kia’s earlier GT sports car concept (revealed at the 2011 L.A. Auto Show), this concept model hints at Kia’s intentions to release a larger premium CUV with a 3.8L V6 hybrid powertrain estimated at 20 miles of all-electric range and 400 horsepower.
The Ray: Plug-in Innovation
Kia has big plans for hybrid technology. The four-door Kia Ray is a sleek plug-in hybrid sedan which offers fuel economy ratings of more than 202 mpg, a top speed of 109 mph, and a range of 746 miles. The Kia Ray concept is also incorporates futuristic technology such as touchscreen controls, drive-by-wire steering, and Kia’s UVO infotainment for user-friendly design.
